Itamandi Lodge is located just off the Napo River, within the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve, about 5 hours from Quito. The Yasuni Biosphere is one of the most bio diverse area’s in the world with its huge amount of different species. Fish, reptiles, mammals such as monkeys and jaguars, insects, spiders and a unique flora can be found here. Patience and a decent amount of luck are usually necessary in order to see these animals. Moreover, the Yasuni national park is known for a Birdwatcher Paradise. Around 1600 species were identified which is a huge number compared to other destinations. Tinamous, Pelicans, Cormorants, Herons, Macaws, Hawks and Doves are just a couple of examples of all the birds that you could see in the Yasuni Biosphere Reserve.
During this 4 day Amazon Experience, you will see a wide variety of things; from local community’s to the wildlife of the Amazon of Ecuador. We visit the famous Parrot Clay Lick, where hundreds of macaws and parrots eat the salty clay from the wall that is rich in minerals. We learn how to use blowguns and hunt by the people from the Kichwa Community. Monkeys, macaws, ocelots and many more animals can be seen at the rescue center Amazonico. This all while comfortably staying at the Itamandi Lodge.

Day 1: Itamandi Lodge
Enjoy the beauty of the rainforest during the 20 minutes upstream boat ride from the Arajuno Bridge to the Itamandi Ecolodge.
Arrival at your lodge, followed by a welcome reception of your guide and a welcome drink. We have some time to relax before we start our night walk. Take your flashlight and your camera with you because we might see nocturnal animals such as; owls, tarantulas, toads, frogs and possibly snakes and caimans. Dinner will be served.
Day 2: Discover the Amazon
We leave early in the morning to see the famous Parrot Clay Lick, where hundreds of macaws and parrots eat the salty clay from the wall that is rich in minerals. Then we will have breakfast. During our 2-3 hour hike, we will observe a great variety of insects, many bird species and hopefully some reptiles and monkeys. We will return to rest and lunch at the lodge. The afternoon excursion includes a cultural activity; we will visit a local Kichwa Community and learn more about traditional dishes, medical plants, Shaman and their daily routine. We pass by a little handicraft market. This way you can support in their daily life. We will return to the lodge where an chocolate workshop will be offered. We will have dinner afterwards.
Day 3: Discover the Amazon
After breakfast we will head to ‘Isla Anaconda’ where we can observe wooly monkeys, squirrel monkeys, the Hoatzin, and many other birds. We visit another local community and learn how to hunt and use blowguns. A delicious lunch box will be provided. After lunch we will head to AmaZOOnico which is a rescue center for threatened animals of the Amazon in Ecuador. Here we can see monkeys, macaws, ocelots, capibara, toucans, parrots and much more animals. We return to the lodge and have free time. Dinner will be served.
Day 4: Return
Breakfast will be provided before we head back.

ITAMANDI LODGE
The natural sanctuary of Itamandi offers an undisturbed world where guests can escape from noise, pollution and stress imposed by larger cities. The lodge was carefully planned to offer comfort to the traveler, yet preserve the environment and ambience. In addition, the lodge feels authentic, airy and comfortable with its high walls and ceilings. The architecture helps to keep the lodge and the rooms climatized without the need of air- conditioning.
Itamandi EcoLodge consists of 19 private rooms of varying sleeping configurations and several public gathering spots, including the spacious dining room, an open-air bar, a majestic pool, and an observation tower.
Our Restaurant offers a wide variety of dishes with a national and international touch. All meals are made with fresh, local ingredients, buffet service for breakfast and lunch, and table service for dinner. Itamandi EcoLodge can gather to special diet needs as to vegetarian meals upon request. The open-air bar offers fresh squeezed juices, soft drinks, beers and cocktails, or a chilled glass of white wine. Enjoy a drink at night overlooking the river and the pool! A raised and roofed boardwalk connects all of the guests lodging to the several large communal areas at Itamandi EcoLodge.
